  • Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) has announced its plans to develop a new supercomputer to help advance the country’s artificial intelligence (AI) industry.

  • The new supercomputer (SC) will be operated by the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST).

  • The SC will also be open to Japanese brands.

  • The project is part of Japan’s efforts to stay competitive in the global AI race and also to address the country’s urgent need for increased computing power in AI development.

  • The new SC will specialize in large language models (LLMs) training to promote Japan’s development of generative AI.

  • The project should cost around 50 billion yen ($450 million) and will be ready by 2025

  • Twitter has rebranded to X and scrapped its iconic blue bird logo.

  • According to Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, the rebrand is part of a larger pivot for the app, “transforming the global town square.”

  • “X is the future state of unlimited interactivity—centred in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking—creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine,” she tweeted on Sunday.

  • Some advertisers are not sold on the rebrand. “From a branding point of view and a marketing point of view, it just seems like a crazy idea,” Matt Egan, managing director of strategy at brand experience firm Siegel+Gale said. “From a branding and marketing points of view, it just seems like a crazy idea.”

  • According to Morning Consult, consumer sentiment on AI regulation is similar in the US and Europe.

  • Only 32% of US and 26%-35% of European consumers believe AI can be easily controlled and developed responsibly.

  • However, 52% of US and 41%-61% of European consumers see AI as the future of technology.

  • Most consumers support heavy government regulation of AI development.

  • Top concerns vary personal data privacy in the US, France, and Germany; irresponsible AI development in the UK; and children accessing AI tools in Italy.

  • Concerns about misinformation are higher in the UK, Germany, and Spain than in the US, France, and Italy.

So this gives you a great starting point for building your perfect persona powered by AI.
